About Julie Workman

In 1974, I moved to Rochester to teach orchestra in the Rochester Public Schools, replacing a teacher on a leave of absence. What was supposed to be one year stretched into 36 years of educating our young people and sharing the gift of music with thousands of students across the district. I retired from teaching in June, 2010 and was elected to the Rochester School Board in November. I had the privilege of being re-elected in 2014 and 2018, and I am excited to be running for my fourth term in order to continue to serve the students in Rochester Public Schools. My husband and I have three adult sons who all graduated from Mayo High School.

I was born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Arlington, VA. I received my Bachelor of Music Education from Indiana University and earned graduate credits in String Pedagogy at the University of Wisconsin. My favorite hobby is geocaching; I have found caches in seven countries, including in all fifty US states and D.C. and seven provinces in Canada.
